manifest of authenticity
Pure capture, directly from camera. No tonal adjustment or crop. Serves as baseline reference for unaltered photographic data — a neutral record of the witnessed world.
Real image with light adjustments (exposure, white balance, dust removal). No compositional changes or synthetic input. Equivalent to archival photo correction.
Real photographs merged or stitched (panoramas, bracketed exposures). All sources are real, yet assembled post-capture.
Real photographic capture with standard post-production — tonal correction, color grading, and occasional crop. No generative or synthetic elements. Represents the world through aesthetic interpretation, not invention.
Grounded in a real capture but visibly reinterpreted — manipulated tonality, altered color schemes, or conceptual emphasis. Still anchored in real content, yet openly expressive.
Real and synthetic materials coexist. Example: sky replacements, AI-generated textures, or digital reconstructions of existing photographs. The boundary between evidence and invention begins to blur.
AI-generated reconstruction informed by real data, descriptions, or metadata. Origin is factual, but the visible image is re-synthesized — a recollection performed by the machine.
Predominantly AI-generated, but guided by the artist’s own documentary archive. Acts as counterproof — a simulation created to expose how the fake imitates the real.
Entirely artificial image generated through algorithms, trained on historical or personal data. Functions as a conceptual extension of the archive — fiction as evidence.
Image derived from corrupted data, neural noise, or dataset artifacts. A collapsed representation — where memory becomes signal.
Absence of image. Only metadata, hash, or textual record persists. The photographic act dissolves into pure data — authenticity reduced to information.
Authenticity Record: VF-0.7
In an age where algorithms fabricate memories, authenticity is an act of resistance. Each image from The Void Fraction project is a document of the real world, captured in the field and free from synthetic manipulation.
1. Authentic Documentary Image
These photographs are not proof of truth, but irrefutable traces of a moment. They carry the dust, light, and ruin of a genuine encounter—a physical testament that resists digital erasure. Each image inhabits the space between the visible and the remembered, between the architecture of war and the architecture of data.
2. Verification and Digital Provenance
The verification code (QR or fractional) is not a decorative element. It represents a fundamental commitment: the image you see was lived, touched, and interpreted through human experience, not an algorithmic hallucination.
3. An Archive Against Oblivion
Each verification page functions as a digital relic, a small bastion against the erasure of history. The Void Fraction is not a static archive, but an anatomy of memory, composed of fragments that remain intact precisely because of their inherent reality.

This digital provenance framework is designed to establish and preserve the authenticity of photographic works. Each verified image is cryptographically linked to a unique hash and its associated metadata, forming a verifiable record within the Void Fraction ecosystem.
While curation and data linking are currently performed manually, the underlying architecture has been conceived to be inherently robust and scalable. The future vision includes the evolution towards a proprietary and automated system, capable of managing the efficient generation of hashes, the dynamic issuance of QR codes, and the standardized publication of metadata at scale.
This project not only validates artistic authorship and verifiable authenticity but also explores the convergence with data permanence, positioning itself as a strategic model for visual truth in the era of synthetic media and with potential for integration with emerging industry standards.
“To authenticate is not to certify. It is to remember against erasure.”
